Andy Phenix
Andy balances the detail-oriented demands of software engineering with an overall focus on what customers ultimately expect from a piece of technology. That big-picture perspective enables him to stay focused on rapidly developing applications that deliver greater business value.
Andy brings more than 20 years of experience creating technology platforms for financial services, retail, energy and telecommunications companies. Prior to joining Sitka Technology, he led the development of an online bill-payment routing and management system that is used by many of the world’s leading financial institutions. Andy also helped design an order processing engine for the prepaid wireless phone service industry and adapted that technology for use in other stored-value service markets.
“I’ve learned that it’s crucial to step back from the minutiae of a project and ask myself, ‘What is the overall goal?’” he says. “That way, I can achieve more critical results in less time.”
Andy earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from The Open University in the United Kingdom and is currently studying for his master’s in software engineering at Portland State University. He lives in Portland with his wife and four children. Outside of work, Andy enjoys cycling, snowboarding and listening to music.
