Chris Brooks
When he’s not busy implementing the server and network architectures that support Sitka Technology applications, Chris spends part of his time teaching the history of Western civilization at Portland Community College. He approaches both roles with dogged curiosity and an engaging communication style.
“There is a similar need for inquiry and problem-solving in teaching and systems engineering,” he observes. “What I like most about working with technology is that it’s always changing.”
Chris oversees Sitka’s computing environment and helps maintain and expand its systems to meet users’ changing needs. Shortly after joining Sitka in 2010, he managed the implementation of the company’s new production environment, including substantial upgrades in network equipment and virtualization technologies.
Previously, Chris handled technical support at several companies while also earning his doctorate in history from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from the University of Oregon.
Chris and his wife live in southeast Portland. Along with raising their young daughter, Chris enjoys playing bass guitar.
