Sam Elmore
Whether he’s scaling a cliff face or writing software code, Sam is tenacious and creative about getting past whatever obstacles are in his way. He thrives on breaking down a problem to its simplest form and coming up with an elegant solution.
Since 1993, Sam has developed software and online systems for companies such as Fios, OakTree Digital and Finatus as well as through his own company, Craftsman Solutions. His talents include recognizing higher-level patterns in code design and reusing those patterns to develop simpler, better-performing software.
“As a software engineer, I try to strike a balance between creating a picture-perfect architecture and doing the down-and-dirty work to find the most straightforward answer,” he says.
Sam has extensive experience in web application development and database analysis, design and administration. He designed the integrated database infrastructure, payment processing software and other back-end management components of Rootdown.us, a comprehensive online resource for practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine.
Sam enjoys rock climbing and recently spent a month exploring the limestone crags of Greece. His other interests include customizing camper vans. He lives in Portland.
