Travis Brooks
Variety is the ingredient that continues to pique Travis’s interest in software development after nearly 15 years in the field.
“You never get stuck doing just one thing for very long in the software world,” says Travis, who joined Sitka Technology in fall 2011. “With technology, the nature of problems is always changing, and I get to work with dramatically different types of businesses from day to day.”
Travis honed his skills in database design and software engineering at companies such as Ninatek, BlueTech LLC, and Fios. While at Ninatek from 2002 to 2005, he built a database application for handling warranty claims on heavy equipment that was one of the fastest statistical analysis systems in its class. Earlier in his career, Travis teamed with fellow technology researchers in Oregon and Washington to study new ways of applying software to benefit the environmental sciences.
He earned his master’s degree in computer science and engineering from Oregon Graduate Institute and a bachelor of science degree from The Evergreen State College. In his free time, Travis enjoys sampling craft-brewed beers and playing the occasional Xbox video game. He resides in downtown Portland.
