Last week, over 1,000 conservation leaders met in Nashville for the 72nd annual National Association of Conservation Districts meeting. Sitka was proud to be a sponsor for this meeting that brings farmers, ranchers, fosters, and conservation professionals from places as far as New Hampshire to Guam in one place to discuss policies and share ideas.
As a first-time attendee of the NACD Annual Meeting, I was impressed by the diversity of activities and the backgrounds of the other attendees. I attended sessions that ranged from panel discussions about conservation finance to superb talks about communicating accomplishments and expanding outreach in a digital age.
The theme of the conference was “Conservation Takes Center Stage in Music City.” In between the sessions, Damon and I had many candid conversations with district members and supervisors throughout the country. While each region faces different challenges, the one constant in each conversation, and in sessions I attended, was a passion for conservation and stewardship of the land. The NACD meeting was a great opportunity to bring diverse voices together, with conservation at the center of it all.
A highlight of the meeting for me was the debut of a series of educational videos produced by NACD.
I am excited to support the work of conservation districts through our ProjectFirma tool. To learn more about ProjectFirma and how 18 California RCDs are using the platform to improve project tracking and reporting across the state, be sure to attend our upcoming webcast.
