With decades of experience building successful natural resource, internet-enabled applications, we are perfectly suited to guide your organization in choosing and implementing the cloud-based solution that best meets your needs.

For most of our clients, we manage all the details for the applications we develop for them. This typically involves deploying infrastructure within our own private cloud (CloudConnect) and/or Microsoft Azure Commercial cloud deployments.

If you’re new to cloud computing and not sure if it’s the right solution for your organization and application, we will work with you and your IT department to develop a cloud-enabled deployment strategy that allows you to take advantage of the many benefits of cloud computing while still ensuring conformance to your IT security policies and procedures.

Cloud Connect

Cloud Connect gives our clients a complete, end-to-end managed services solution for sharing applications, optimizing resources, and maximizing results. Our managed services offering runs in our own private cloud and provides 24/7 protection and secure access to Sitka infrastructure that adhere to NIST 800-53 R4 security standards.

What You Get

  1. Active Monitoring

As you manage your operations, you need to ensure that your applications are available whenever and wherever they are needed. All of our networks, servers, system services, and applications are continuously monitored for availability and performance. If there’s a problem, chances are we’ll know about it before you do.

  2. Backup and Disaster Recovery
As much as modern data centers strive to create redundancy from within; sometimes catastrophic failures do happen and applications go offline. If you have a mission critical application, then you need to know what to do when disaster strikes. We have the tested data center redundancy, replication, and recovery plans in place to ensure that you will be able to quickly recover your application and its data if disaster strikes.

  3. Security, Patching, and Upgrades
A major source of security exploits and data loss at the hands of hackers are servers that are not patched with fixes to emergent vulnerabilities or operating systems that are so old they are longer receiving security updates. We regularly patch and upgrade all server operating systems, Docker containers and services, and run vulnerability scans and penetration tests on our systems to help ensure that every vulnerability gets the attention required. We also employ Layer 2 isolation, Layer 3 IP firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Services (IPS), anti-virus, and offer Web Application Firewall support for your application to provide defense against attackers.

  4. Identity Management
Virtually all enterprise applications require identity management to ensure that only authenticated users have access to your data; however, developing unique user account and password management software per application is both expensive and risky. For Sitka managed applications, we bundle access to our OpenID Connect based Keystone Identity Manager. Utilizing Keystone as the identity manager for your application gives you SSO capabilities across applications and avoids potential security risks. We also offer support for those customers that prefer to bring their own directory.

Additional Premium Options

Web Application Firewall

Monitors, filters, and blocks HTTP traffic to and from your web application to protect your site and its data from cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery, file inclusion, and SQL injection attacks. A web application firewall provides additional critical protection for any online business that needs to secure private data.

Docker Container Orchestration

If you are running containerized workloads in a microservice architecture, our orchestration services will help ensure that each service within the application is available with enough horsepower to handle rapid changes in workload.

CloudConnect provides a single point-of-service for all your application management needs. It shortens delivery cycles, reduces operational costs, and improves security and availability.

Cloud Consulting

You may have heard that the cloud offers numerous opportunities to innovate and streamline operations; however, realizing these benefits typically requires substantial investment in time and training to stay up to date on the rapidly evolving cloud technology ecosystem. For government agencies, coordinating with external IT departments and abiding by a plethora of regulations and mandates can make this process even more taxing. That’s where we can help.

Sitka has built and deployed numerous web applications that are hosted in a number of different ways: on-premise, in Sitka’s private cloud, in Microsoft Azure’s commercial cloud, or via hybrid approaches. We work closely with our customers and their IT departments to determine the correct infrastructure option and coordinate deployments to improve data security, increase availability and performance, and minimize operating costs of their Sitka-built application.

What is on-premise?

On-premise (aka on-prem) software is installed and runs on servers hosted by the organization using the software. These servers are normally behind the corporate firewall and can be either virtualized or running directly on physical hardware.

What is a private cloud?

A private cloud is a virtualized Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) configuration that is run on either an organization’s own servers or those of a third-party service provider. Private clouds provide network isolation and flexible server resource allocation capabilities that can accommodate many types of compute and storage workloads.

What is Microsoft Azure?

Microsoft Azure offers both commercial and government clouds for building, testing, deploying, and managing internet-enabled applications and services through Microsoft-managed data centers.

What is a hybrid cloud approach?

A hybrid cloud is a cloud computing environment that uses a mix of on-premise, private cloud, and third-party commercial cloud services, like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services. A hybrid cloud approach enables an organization to flexibly schedule workloads on on-premise servers or in private/commercial clouds to accommodate security, performance, availability, or cost constraints.
